AP projects Talarico as winner of the Senate election in Texas

According to the projection, the Democrat wins the open Republican seat, it is the first of the seven key races with a projection.

The news agency AP projects Democrat James Talarico as the winner of the Senate election in Texas. According to this projection, he prevails over Republican Ken Paxton. This is reported by the broadcaster WUFT in an NPR text citing the AP, published on 4 November 2026 at 5:04 CET. According to the Texas Tribune, the projection came shortly after 21:00 Texas time, i.e. shortly after 4:00 CET. Neither report gives vote shares or the state of the count. It is a projection, not an official final result.

Texas is the first of the seven key races with an AP projection. The seat has so far been in Republican hands. In the calculation under Senate, the Democrats would thus be at 48 seats and the Republicans at 46. For a majority, the Democrats need 51.

For Maine, Ohio, Alaska, Iowa, Kansas and Michigan, no AP projection could be verified against a primary source by 5:10 CET. Headlines in individual media report a projection for Adam Hamilton (D) in Kansas; who made it could not be seen. There is no projection of the majority in the Senate.

The bars on election night still show the election-day forecasts. In Alaska, the ranked-choice count follows on 18 November; more under counting.
