AP projects Jackson as winner of the Senate election in Maine

After Collins conceded, the news agency also calls the race, only Alaska is left without a projection.

The news agency AP projects Democrat Troy Jackson as the winner of the Senate election in Maine. According to this projection, he prevails over Republican Senator Susan Collins. This is reported by NPR in a text carried by the broadcaster KPBS, citing the AP (last updated around 8:00 CET on 4 November 2026). The report does not give the time of the projection. It is a projection, not an official final result.

Collins had already conceded defeat before the projection. According to Newsweek, the broadcaster CNN had already projected the race for Jackson shortly after 6:15 CET.

According to Decision Desk HQ, Jackson had 53.0 percent and Collins 45.8 percent (as of 6:18 CET, about 67 percent of votes counted). Maine votes with ranked choice. A further counting round is only needed if nobody receives more than half of the votes. No statement on this from the election authority could be found by 10:20 CET.

The seat has so far been in Republican hands. Maine does not change the projected majority in the Senate. In the calculation there, with the projected wins in Texas, Ohio, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan and Maine, the Democrats would have 53 seats and the Republicans 46.

This leaves only Alaska without a projection. There, according to first reports, Mary Peltola (D) and Senator Dan Sullivan (R) are close together; no figure could be verified with the election authority by 10:20 CET. The ranked-choice count follows on 18 November; more under counting. The bars on election night still show the election-day forecasts.
