Collins concedes defeat to Jackson in Maine, the AP has not yet called the race
The Republican senator congratulates her Democratic challenger, an AP projection is still pending, Michigan remains open.
Republican Senator Susan Collins has conceded defeat to Democrat Troy Jackson in Maine. The broadcaster Maine Public reported this on 4 November 2026. According to the report, Collins called Jackson to congratulate him and promised an orderly transition.
The news agency AP has not yet called the race. This is stated in an AP text carried by the newspaper Northern Virginia Daily (published 7:31 CET). Vote shares and the state of the count could not be verified against a primary source by 7:50 CET. A concession is neither a projection nor an official final result. Maine votes with ranked choice. Whether a further counting round is needed was not known by 7:50 CET.
The seat has so far been in Republican hands. It is no longer decisive for the majority in the Senate; the AP already projects a Democratic majority.
In Michigan, the race between Abdul El-Sayed (D) and Mike Rogers (R) was still too close for a projection at 6:53 CET, according to an AP text at WWJ. Headlines in individual media now report a victory for El-Sayed; who projected it could not be seen by 7:50 CET. In Alaska, the ranked-choice count follows on 18 November. The bars on election night still show the election-day forecasts.
