Zelensky links the overnight Russian large-scale attack to election day in the US
After attacks on energy facilities in nine regions, the Ukrainian president calls the timing telling and addresses America.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the morning of 3 November 2026 on a Russian large-scale attack during the night. On his Telegram channel, he writes that the attack was aimed above all at critical infrastructure. The main targets were energy, power generation and substations in nine regions, including Odesa, Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Rivne. In Kharkiv a city hospital was hit, and 73 people were injured.
According to the Ukrainian agency UNN and the portal Glavnoe, Zelensky calls it telling that this is happening on the day of the congressional election in the US. Glavnoe published at 9:57 CET. Ukraine must be helped to protect its skies, otherwise Russia will never stop the missile attacks, he says. America could achieve an honest and reliable peace, he says. We were not able to view this part of the post in full in the original. It follows the rendering of both media outlets.
Already the evening before, Zelensky had warned that Russia wanted to use election day for a large-scale attack. Now, too, he does not express an expectation of any particular outcome of the election.
This is the view of the Ukrainian government. How other governments view the election is under Reports. When the results will come is on the election night page.
